There are not many days left in 2016 and then we will enter 2017. It is a great opportunity to look back on what has been achieved.
When you are in the midst of activities and production it is hard to reflect back, it is easier to see what is missing and what should be done. I personally love year end, the conclusion of something and it also means starting something new. If we take a moment and see what Piab has achieved during 2016, it is a great deal, a very nice year to conclude and to reflect around.
We started the year with an innovation that was outstanding, the launch of piFLOW®t and piGENTLE™. It is a dedicated vacuum conveyor for transporting tablets and other fragile products ensuring minimized damage of the product. This product launch was very specific and targeted toward a specific pain that actively contributed to the better of our customers. This also was a big technological development and ended up being patented. A nice combination, it makes the customers happy to address a big pain and our design engineers focused and proud to be part of a great development.
After that, we had a number of launches and approvals such as a new family of friction cups for the automotive industry and sheet metal handling, our vacuum conveyors were certified with a number of standards, such as ATEX Dust and Gas, EU and US food/drug grade standards and so on.
Meanwhile, in the background we had quite a number of people working on an important launch of the state of the art all-in-one vacuum ejector, a vacuum pump that had all the features a customer could wish for and a bit more. It again, generated patents and a possibility to address pains. Just to mention a few pains it could address, it had IO-Link to meet industry 4.0, and as it is stackable as one can use up to four units and share the same manifold and pneumatic connections, such as a common feed pressure and exhaust. And I can go on and tell about all features, but you will find more about it on the piCOMPACT®23 landing page.
Then something very new happened in activities, we acquired another company, Kenos. Kenos is an Italian company with large area grippers. This was a first step into building the global leader in industrial automation components. As Kenos is a strong brand with high tech products it was a very nice match to Piab and our joined customers globally, where there is an additional gripping device complementing our traditional product range. A lot of resources went into integrating the two companies, and there are still things to be done that you will see very soon.
Then one could think that the big part of product launches was done, but then it really escalated... We had the new food contact cups, which also was metal detectable, piINLINE®plus and piSTAMP for the automotive industry, perfect for press-shop vacuum, more friction cups, and even more which concluded in a full offering to the automotive industry, which was made as a marketing launch during the autumn which you can see summarized here.
Well, can we take Christmas vacation now? Actually we are working as hard now as we did during the most intensive part of the year with something that will come during the early months of the year. Keep on popping in and you will be updated, or register for our newsletter to make sure you are part of all the news that will be launched during 2017.
It is nice to conclude and recognize the things that has been achieved. Take a deep breath, feel happy, celebrate, feel proud and look with curiosity into 2017. See you on the other side of the year!
