Suction Cup BLFF family

BLFF is Piab’s new high performance suction cup family for modern warehousing, e commerce, logistics and general industry. It combines the soft adaptability needed to seal on bags, irregular shapes and porous materials with the strength required for heavy cartons and flat boxes. Thanks to a unique combination of high flow capability and a soft, conformable lip, BLFF can handle both heavy loads and “difficult” objects where traditional cup lips struggle to seal, helping to increase pick rates and reduce changeovers in automated systems. Available in diameters Ø42 and Ø55 mm and two hardness levels (Medium, Hard), BLFF replaces multiple traditional cup types and simplifies tooling, setup and spare part handling. The cups are moulded in recyclable TPE and mounted on detachable metal fittings, making replacement and recycling straightforward. Validated in demanding cyclic and abrasion tests and suitable for both centralized and decentralized vacuum systems, BLFF offers a robust, long life gripping solution that is ready for today’s and tomorrow’s packaging materials.

BLFF Hard: Built for Deep Vacuum & EOAT Applications

The Hard version of BLFF is designed for the most demanding handling environments, where deep vacuum, very high flow, and high accelerations are required. Its reinforced structure ensures stability when lifting heavy objects and during aggressive, high-speed motions - without collapse or loss of seal.

BLFF Medium: Multi-Item Handling Suction Cup 

The Medium hardness offers the ideal balance between flexibility and lifting strength. It supports high flow, relatively deep vacuum, and works reliably across both heavy and challenging object types. This variant is perfect when you need dependable performance without over-stiffness.

  • Excellent choice for mixed item profiles—rigid, semi-rigid, or deformable.

Mixed: Flexible Grip for Light & Delicate Items

Mixed allows functional performance zones within one EOAT. Medium cups form a stable base, while targeted Hard or Medium zones optimize specific load or product conditions — without mechanical redesign or robot reprogramming.

What types of items can BLFF handle?

BLFF grips a wide variety of items - from heavy, rigid parcels to light, deformable or irregular objects. Its adaptive lip and bellows allow reliable sealing on plastic, porous paper, cardboard, and mixed materials used in warehousing, e-commerce, and logistics.

Is BLFF easy to maintain or replace?

Yes. BLFF uses a two-part fitting where the cup and lower fitting can be quickly replaced while keeping the upper fitting in place. The optional high-flow filter is easy to clean. All components were designed for fast maintenance, minimal downtime, and long-term durability.

What’s the difference between BLFF hardness levels?

BLFF comes in two hardness levels so you can match performance to your flow and handling needs. Hard delivers strong, stable grip for heavy items, Medium offers balanced handling for mixed products. All versions come in Ø42, and Ø55.

Sustainability

BLFF is built with a sustainability focus. All plastics used in the cup and lower fitting are fully recyclable, and metal parts are designed for reuse. All components can be detached for proper end-of-life recycling.
