A new single-lip Nitrile-PVC suction cup family designed for clearly defined lifting performance when handling heavy, flat materials such as glass and sheet metal.

Piab expands its flat suction cup portfolio with XLF-SL, a single-lip Nitrile-PVC suction cup family designed for secure handling of flat, heavy objects such as glass panes and sheet materials in demanding industrial environments. XLF-SL complements Piab’s existing XLF double-lip range, giving customers a clear choice between defined lifting performance and redundancy-focused safety, depending on application needs and safety philosophy.

Defined lifting performance for high-load applications

XLF-SL is developed based on customer feedback from applications where lifting force is critical. With a single sealing lip, engineers can clearly verify which lip is active and confidently use the specified values from Piab data sheets in calculations—supporting simpler dimensioning and risk assessment when loads are large, heavy, and high in value.

Manufactured in Nitrile-PVC, the XLF range offers reliable grip on smooth surfaces such as glass, metal, and composite sheets, with good wear resistance. The material also provides strong resistance to UV light and ozone, making it suitable for harsh environments—including operation near welding processes and in applications using ozone cleaning for bacterial control.

Two complementary designs: performance vs redundancy

Piab will continue offering the XLF double-lip cups alongside XLF-SL. The double-lip design adds redundancy, helping maintain grip if one sealing line is damaged or loses contact—ideal where an extra safety margin is prioritized.

XLF-SL, by contrast, is built for transparent, easily verifiable lifting capacity. Together, the two families give customers flexibility to choose the concept that best fits their risk analysis, process layout, and handling requirements.

Designed for operator-close handling tasks

Handling heavy panels often happens with operators working close to the load, where both personal safety and protection of valuable goods matter. By providing a clear single-lip design with documented lifting performance, XLF-SL supports safer system design and helps users meet internal and external safety requirements.

Availability: The XLF-SL suction cup family will be available through Piab’s regular sales channels and digital tools, providing a performance-focused option for industries such as glass handling, sheet metal processing, and general industrial automation.
