Meet Piab’s Sintered Filter: The New Standard in Vacuum Conveyor Filtration

In a food, pharma, or chemical plant, not many people walk in thinking about filters. You think about throughput, cleaning windows, inspection findings, and the calls you get when a line stops. Yet so often, a small, cracked, clogged, or poorly cleaned filter is exactly what steals your time.

Piab’s new Sintered filter is built for exactly that reality. Made as a single sintered polyethylene body with no glued joints or seams, it’s designed to quietly do its job day after day, handling real-world plant conditions without cracking, deforming, or losing strength. Fewer weak points mean fewer surprises, fewer unplanned stoppages, and fewer times you need to dismantle equipment just to fix a failed filter.

Built for uptime, hygiene, and easy cleaning

The Sintered filter is made from PFAS-free polyethylene, safe for food and pharma and compliant with EU and US food grade requirements, so you can trust it around sensitive products. It withstands corrosive materials and high cleaning temperatures up to 121 °C and is meant to be washed and reused repeatedly without losing performance. You can clean it with compressed air, wet washing, or sterilization, even when handling sticky or caking powders, and still rely on stable filtration.

Its twisted, compact geometry is enabled by tooling produced with additive manufacturing, giving you a large filtration area and high strength in the same footprint as conventional filters. The unibody design eliminates crevices and gaps where powder can hide or build up, making it easier to clean thoroughly. Because it is crafted from a single material, there are no joints that behave differently under pressure or temperature cycles, which helps keep flow rates and process performance predictable across shifts and product changes.

Traceable and ready for digital maintenance

Each Sintered filter includes an NFC chip that can be scanned with NFC enabled smartphones. One tap takes your team straight to the correct product page on piab.com, with cleaning instructions, technical data, and documentation linked directly to the filter in their hand. This makes it easier to standardize how filters are used and cleaned and to support audits without hunting for files.

The NFC functionality also supports traceability and smarter filter management. You can associate filters with specific materials or lines, track usage, and move toward a more digital, data‑driven maintenance practice instead of relying on handwritten labels or memory. (The latter feature is available with Android smartphones with NFC and iPhone 7 or later with iOS 13+ using a commonly available third-party NFC‑writing app, not provided by Piab.)

For an operations manager, facility manager, or on‑site engineer, the Sintered filter is more than a new cartridge. It’s a durable, hygienic, and traceable component that helps reduce unplanned stops, extend cleaning and replacement intervals, simplify inspections, and give your team instant access to the information they need.

Available now – and more variants to come

We are introducing the Sintered filter line with one initial product variant. Additional sizes and variants will be added gradually, so you can match the same robust, hygienic filtration concept to more systems and applications over time.
