Sheet metal is moved through a series of presses and formed into a panel. Slippery panels due to oil, narrow areas to grip and high speed in the press makes the selection of vacuum solutions crucial.
Press transfer is a high-speed application where Piab’s friction cups for oily surfaces are needed for maximum performance and minimized risks for dimple marks. Decentralized ejectors with integrated release mechanisms such as piSTAMP and piINLINE® are placed directly at the suction cup and are the right solution for the highest press speeds (up to 15-20 strokes/min). A centralized high-performance ejector such as the piCOMPACT®23 SMART SX42 can serve all End of Arm Tools for a specific press station which can serve speeds up to 10-15 strokes/min.
